The State Department said in a statement that the two discussed regional security challenges and the importance of continued cooperation in addressing these issues.

Blinken addressed the US approach towards a more peaceful, secure, and prosperous future for Israelis, Palestinians, and the greater Middle East.

Great speaking with @Gabi_Ashkenazi today to discuss our partnership, regional challenges, and Israel's efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The United States remains unwavering in its commitment to Israel's security.

He also "emphasized the Biden Administration's belief that the two-state solution is the best way to ensure Israel's future as a Jewish and democratic state, living in peace alongside a viable and democratic Palestinian state," the statement said.

Blinken further stressed the United States' "continuing commitment to opposing unfair, one-sided actions against Israel in the multilateral arena."

I thanked @SecBlinken for the strong opposition of the US to one-sided actions against Israel in the multilateral arena. We discussed the fight against COVID19 and in this context I shared with the Secretary the coordination between Israel and the Palestinians.

Ashkenazi and Blinken acknowledged the steadfast partnership between the United States and Israel, and that the two countries would work closely together on challenges ahead.

"It was good speaking with my colleague, last night. We had an important discussion on ways to address regional challenges. I am as confident as ever that our alliance is the cornerstone of regional security and stability," Ashkenazi tweeted.

"I thanked Blinker for the strong opposition of the US to one-sided actions against Israel in the multilateral arena. We discussed the fight against COVID19 and in this context, I shared with the Secretary the coordination between Israel and the Palestinians."
