Israel's defense establishment has joined the probe into a massive oil spill off Israel's Mediterranean coastline, Israel Hayom has learned.

A Libyan ship that departed from Iran spilled tons of tar, which washed up on Israel's coast, causing enormous damage to beaches and wildlife.
According to the company TankerTrackers, which submitted its findings to the Environmental Protection Ministry, the tanker Emerald was documented off an Iranian island, where it is believed to have loaded the Iranian crude oil that eventually spilled onto Israel's coastline.
