Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Saturday voiced their opposition to Israel's plans to evict Palestinian families from east Jerusalem homes, a land dispute that has contributed to the latest conflagration of violence in Jerusalem.

"Saudi Arabia rejects Israel's plans and measures to evict dozens of Palestinians from their homes in Jerusalem and impose Israeli sovereignty over them," the kingdom's Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement.
Last week Israel's Supreme Court delayed a ruling on the eviction of four Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, pending an appeal hearing on Monday. Jewish plaintiffs claim their families owned the land before 1948, but lost it in Israel's War of Independence when Jordan overran the area.
