Many Arab residents of Israel choosing to participate in a one-day strike on Tuesday in solidarity with the Hamas terrorist group in Gaza, while some activists engaged in riots near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem.
At least eight were arrested near that area according to Israel Police, which was one of the main friction points leading up to the recent escalation, which has turned into a full-fledged confrontation between Israel and Gaza's terrorist groups.
Operation Guardian of the Walls was launched by Israel after the Hamas-provoked riots in the capital, including on Temple Mount, led to rocket fire on Jerusalem and on Israel's south.
The events on Tuesday near the gate were sparked after one man attacked a female soldier who had asked to check him. He was soon joined by dozens of other youths who then started hurling rocks on forces, glass bottles, and even fireworks.
