In an unusual statement Thursday, Israel Electric Corporation employees said that they will not repair the power lines damaged in Israeli airstrikes ove terrorist targets in Gaza until Hamas returns the bodies of two Israeli soldiers it is holding, as well two Israeli civilians held captive in Gaza.

Five of the 10 high-voltage lines supplying Gaza were hit by rocket fire from the Gaza Strip. The company stated a few days ago that currently the power lines will not be repaired as they are not accessible due to the fighting.
In response to a statement from the IEC workers' organization, IEC management said: "We are a state company, subject to the provisions of the law. We believe that electricity is an essential product outside the conflict. The IEC hopes to bring the boys home."
