An 11-story residential building near Miami Beach collapsed in the early hours of Thursday morning, local media reported, saying over 80 rescue units were at the scene, including technical rescue teams, along with assistance from municipal fire departments.

According to the Miami Herald, it was unclear why the building on Collins Avenue in Surfside, about 6 miles north of Miami Beach, collapsed.
Miami Beach police said the collapse happened at 8777 Collins Avenue, the site of the beachfront, 12-story Champlain Towers, which has more than 100 condo units.
