Bahrain's first-ever appointment of an ambassador to Israel follows last September's signing of the Abraham Accords at the White House that normalized relations between the Jewish state and Bahrain and Gulf neighbor the United Arab Emirate, with Sudan and Morocco later joining the agreement.

The UAE's first ambassador to Israel, Mohammed Al-Khajah, arrived in March.
Al-Jalahmah serves as director of operations at Bahrain's Foreign Ministry and was previously deputy chief of mission at Bahrain's embassy to the United States from 2009 to 2013.
Prince Salman wished al-Jalahmah success in his duties, according to the report, while "emphasizing the importance of furthering the Kingdom's efforts to promote peace and tolerance in support of regional development and stability."
