Meeks said in a statement that the goal of the trip is to bolster "diplomatic relationships with the government of Israel and the Palestinian Authority, as well as conduct oversight of US programming in the region," The Hill reported.
Additionally, the legislators will learn more about the Iranian threat to the region and how to build upon the seeming success of the Abraham Accords – the normalization agreements between the Jewish state and four Arab- and Muslim-majority countries.
The delegation will also travel to Qatar, where lawmakers will meet government officials to discuss regional security threats, economic interests and efforts to build upon the Abraham Accords.
