The families of the 10 teens killed in the 2017 flooding disaster in Tzafit stream, in southern Israel were awarded 24 million shekels ($7.3 million) in damages on Monday, after a lengthy mediation process.

The teens, all high school seniors at the Bnei Zion pre-military academy, were killed on April 26, 2018 when, during a school trip that took place despite harsh weather advisories, a fierce storm hit the Tzafit area causing a flash flood.
According to the terms of the settlement reached with the school, insurance companies will pay out NIS 18 million ($5.4 million) and the state will pay NIS 5.8 million ($1.7 million).
