The United States will not impose a deadline on the seventh round of talks with Iran to revive the 2015 nuclear deal, but only Tehran can determine when talks will resume, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said on Monday.

The negotiations seek to revive a landmark pact under which Iran agreed to curb its nuclear program in return for the lifting of international sanctions, which opened the way for a brief thaw in decades of US-Iranian confrontation.
"We're not imposing a deadline on these talks, but ... we are conscious that as time proceeds Iran's nuclear advances will have a bearing on our view of ultimately returning to the JCPOA," Price said.
A myriad of barriers remain firmly in place ahead of the talks' resumption, chief among them are Iranian demands about sanctions relief and Western concern over Iran's expanding nuclear know-how.
European Union envoy Enrique Mora, the chief coordinator of the talks, said last month that he believed a deal can be reached sooner rather than later.
Iranian President-elect Ebrahim Raisi has backed talks between Iran and six world powers.
"We support the negotiations that guarantee our national interests. ... America should immediately return to the deal and fulfill its obligations under the deal," said Raisi, who is himself under US sanctions.
