Torremolinos Mayor Jose Ortiz and the heads of the local Jewish community were present at the dedication ceremony which saw a seven-meter (22-foot) statue of a six-branched menorah, the symbol of Yad Vashem, erected at the heart of the "Avner Shalev Yad Vashem, Jerusalem" squares.
Shalev said: "I thank the Torremolinos Municipality and see this as its appreciation of the work of Yad Vashem and as a testament to the international importance of Holocaust remembrance, and for future generations."
