With the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant in Israel, Opposition Leader Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement Wednesday that "the only way to protect the population" is to administer the third vaccine shot.

"After speaking with Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla twice, as well as other experts, I have come to the conclusion that Israel must immediately order millions of vaccines and immediately begin administering the third shot to the adult population."
He explained that these are the people, "over the age of 50 who are at a higher risk of serious disease and even death. The third shot must be given between 200,000 and 2 million Israelis.
"Without a third vaccine, there is no effective way to save lives, and maintain an open and growing economy," the opposition leader said.
