At the start of September, detectives from the Jerusalem District Police caught four of the suspects – all men in their 20s – red-handed, driving a stolen car. All are residents of east Jerusalem.
Detectives managed to connect the suspects to other car thefts. The suspects were in remand during the investigation.
Chief Supt. Yossi Nizri, head of the Criminal Division of the Jerusalem District Police, said, "We will continue to take action using all the tools at the Israel Police's disposal to contain vehicle thefts and arrest the suspects and put them on trial. Recently, members of a number of [car theft] rings operating in the Jerusalem area to whom numerous incidents are attributed have been arrested."
