The volunteer who died was later identified as Hossam Sajayir, 32, from the northern Druze village of Yarka. A policeman, 41-year-old Amir Abu Rish, also of Yarka, was also injured in the ramming. Both were rushed to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya, where Abu Rish remains in serious condition.
Local media reports sdau the police arrested a 44-year-old resident of Arrabe, a town near Sakhnin, soon after the incident. Hours later, police arrested several other suspects near Jerusalem for suspected involvement in the incident.
It is understood that the driver was a building contractor illegally employing Palestinian workers who had no Israeli work permits. The deadly incident occurred when he was trying to flee the scene, and it is unclear whether he deliberately ram his vehicle into the policeman and the volunteer.
