According to the new guidelines, only people age 30 and over and members of at-risk groups, such as patients with chronic illnesses, will be tested using PCR kits, the ministry informed the country's healthcare providers on Monday.
The instructions were issued by the Health Ministry's chief accountant, Hassan Ismail, and allow HMOs 10% leeway.
In addition, the ministry was expected to decide on Monday whether or not it would keep working with Sheba Target, a company that operates testing sites for the IDF Home Front Command. If the arrangement ends, sites that conduct slightly more than 50% of all PCR tests in Israel will shut down.
