Attorney-General Avichai Mendelblit on Wednesday approved a deal that would spare the Samaria outpost of Evyatar, south of Nablus, from eviction, as it will be converted into a hesder yeshiva.

Under the deal reached between Defense Minister Benny Gantz, Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, and settlement leaders with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's backing, the 50 families residing at the site voluntarily left last summer. In exchange the government promised not to demolish the outpost pending further review.
Following a mapping quest seeking to ensure the outpost was not built on privately owned land, it was earmarked to house a new yeshiva, with a residential neighborhood. A date for the beginning of construction has not been set.
Mendelblit approved the deal on what is effectively his final day as attorney general.
It is now up to Gantz to issue special building permits.
