Israeli Druze runner Karawan Halabi set an Israeli track and field record on Tuesday in the 1,000-meter race, finishing with a time of 2:43.99 minutes.

Halabi is the first athlete from the Druze community to hold an Israeli track and field record.
The previous record belonged to Edna Lankri, whose time of 2:46.03 minutes had been held for 25 years.
Halabi, from Daliat el-Carmel, is also a biomedical engineering student at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa.
