Last year, the State Attorney's Office's cyber department issued 14 indictments for online sex crimes committed against 194 underage boys and girls, while three more indictments were issued for violations of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Law, in which the defendants allegedly disseminated videos of a sexually graphic nature online.
Over the past year, after a server breach that saw the personal information of users of an Israeli LGBTQ dating app leaked, the State Attorney's cyber department has worked to protect the privacy of thousands of users whose personal information was made public. Among other measures, the department removed accounts from Telegram, Facebook, Twitter and other platforms, which had published the sensitive information or parts of it.
Additionally, the department removed more than 80 online accounts belonging to the Iranian hacker group BlackShadow and its website was blocked from access in Israel.
