A 23-year-old Israeli woman was killed and four other Israelis injured in a major car accident approximately two hours' drive from Cancun, Mexico, on Saturday.

Foreign Ministry officials and staff from the Israeli Consulate in Mexico contacted the injured travelers and helped them receive medical treatments. On Sunday, officials broke the news of the woman's death to her parents.
The Foreign Ministry department in charge of aiding Israelis abroad said, "Representatives will shepherd the family through this difficult time, until she can be brought to Israel for burial. We hope her coffin will arrive in the next few days."
