Iran's intelligence ministry said it had arrested three Mossad spies, according to a statement published by the semi-official Fars news agency.
The statement did not specify the nationalities of the Israeli Intelligence agency's spies but it mentioned they were arrested in Iran's southeastern Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan.

According to the Iranian report, the individuals, who are likely Iranian citizens, were arrested following a special directive by law-enforcement authorities following supsicious activity involving the unauthorized transfer of classified documents.
Iran has often accused the Israeli intelligence agency of recruiting local spies and in March Iran said Israeli spies were operating in a base inside northern Iraq from wher ethey supposedly orchestrated an attack on Iranian assets. Several days ago Iraqi security sources told the Saudi paper Asharq al-Awsat that following an investigation into the alleged Israeli attack, it appears that Iran's claims are unsubstantiated and tehre is no shred of evidence to cofirm the presence of the Israeli Mossad in Erbil, where the bases are supposedly located.
One of the Iraqi officials told Asharq al-Awsat that "Iraq asked the Iranian side to back up its claims regarding the Israeli Mossad, but it failed to do so despite Iraq's efforts.".
