The operation, a joint INF-Shin Bet security service operation, took place on April 8 and saw Israeli forces seize maritime smuggling infrastructure through which weapons and components were being shipped into the Gaza Strip.
The infrastructure was taken down mid-smuggling attempt, the military said. Three suspects were arrested as they were trying to cross into Egypt's territorial waters. The vessel on which was seized and they were handed over to the Shin Bet for interrogation.
Ashdod Naval Base Commander Col. Eli Soholitzki said commandoes "hit a significant route used to transfer weapon-production components to terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip. The IDF works tirelessly to prevent terrorist organizations from growing more powerful.
"The intelligence efforts in the IDF and the Shin Bet, combined with the troops on the ground and at sea led to the success of the operation."
