Belgium on Sunday became the first country to mandate monkeypox quarantine, setting it for three weeks, the country's health authorities announced.

So far 14 countries have confirmed outbreaks of the viral disease. The rare viral infection, which people usually contract during trips to west and central Africa, is transmitted by very close contact with an infected individual.
It is usually mild, however, the disease can prove fatal with the strain causing the current outbreak killing one in 100 infected, according to current World Health Organization data.
So far, Israel has identified two cases of the monkeypox.
