Israel on Thursday sent Cyprus two firefighting planes and equipment to help the island country battle the wildfires raging in its north.

The move, approved by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, and Public Security Minister Omer Barlev, follows a request by Nicosia's government.
Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus Oren Anolik is coordinating the effort vis-à-vis the National Security Council and Cypriot authorities.
