Veteran Channel 12 News crime reporter Moshe Nussbaum announced over the weekend that has been diagnosed with ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

"I am in the early stages of the disease," Nussbaum says in an email to his colleagues at N12. "My family and I are aware of the ramifications and are preparing accordingly.
"There is no need to rush eulogize me," he continued. "I'm still alive and kicking, just maybe a little slower. Right now, I intend to continue working, although naturally, I'll be slowing down."
ALS, often called Lou Gehrig's disease, after the famed baseball player who was diagnosed with it, is a terminal disease.
