"The JCPA president led a delegation of the center's senior researchers to a series of meetings in Rabat with Moroccan opinion leaders and think-tank analysts. Members of the delegation included Dr. Shimon Shapira, Yossi Kuperwasser, and Jacques Neriah. They also met with Morocco's foreign minister, Nasser Bourita, for a discussion that focused on strengthening Israeli-Moroccan ties and on the regional problems," the JCPA said in a statement. " In the interview for the Moroccan paper, Dr. Gold emphasized the opportunity for Israeli-Moroccan cooperation in the natural gas domain in light of the crisis in Europe. Nigeria recently discovered an enormous gas field that could affect the policy of the Fertile Crescent countries and the possibility of cooperation with Israel on the issue.
Dr. Gold was asked about how to solve the Palestinian issue and said that, in light of Israel's experience, Morocco could make a helpful contribution to the efforts to reach a settlement.
The former Foreign Ministry director-general also addressed the Western Sahara issue, which provided the lead headline for the interview, "Israel will always be for Morocco on the Sahara issue."
