For the first time since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Taglit-Birthright Israel held its traditional "mega-event" at the Expo Tel Aviv convention center with donors from across the globe in attendance along with 3,000 young Jewish adults from 13 countries – including the United States, France, Great Britain, Mexico, Turkey, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, and others.
Taglit-Birthright, according to its website, Israel seeks to strengthen Jewish identity, Jewish community, and connection with Israel by offering a free trip to Israel for young Jewish adults.
"After two years of limited arrivals … we at Taglit are seeing an incredible demand and are preparing accordingly for the rest of the year as well," said Gidi Mark, the CEO of Taglit-Birthright Israel.
Dr. Miriam Adelson said in her speech at Wednesday's event: "Don't allow those who lie about Israel to present those lies as alternative truth, stand for justice. Work colleagues, elected officials, friends at school, tell them about your trip here to Israel."
Full disclosure: The Adelson family owns the company that is the primary shareholder in Israel Hayom. Dr. Miriam Adelson is the publisher of Israel Hayom.
