A 19-year-old IDF soldier drowned on Wednesday afternoon, the military confirmed in a statement. The soldier's family has been informed of the tragedy.

The incident took place at a swimming pool during a recreational out for his unit at the Ashkelon Recreation Village. The military is investigating the issue.
The outing and all other unit activities were suspended following the incident and psychological support has been made available to his comrades.
