"Seven judges from all over the world, including Sasha Spellman, Director at AARP, and Oliver Tian, Vice President at Global Robot Clusters and advisor to the Asia Pacific Assistive Robotics Association, served in the competition along with 100 seniors from all over the world, who also participated in the vote," the company said.
"The first place won $5,000 and will be guided by the Mediterranean Towers Ventures investment fund," the statement continued, adding that the fund's "guidance includes a review of the company's business plan and overseas go-to-market strategy. In addition, the fund connects startups to markets and potential customers in Israel and abroad, helping them pinpoint their product's value to the end customer by involving seniors in the thinking process."
Reshub, an Irish company developing a quality-of-life enhancing system that engages the local collaborative economy using a unique digital interface designed for the elderly population, was declared the winner. The second place went to the Israeli company Olive Diagnostics, established in 2019 by Guy Goldman, which has developed a smart toilet seat that detects dehydration, urinary tract infections, and other medical signals.
The Mediterranean Towers VENTURES investment fund was established in 2018 by the Mediterranean Towers Group, chaired by Dr. Yael Benvenisti. "To date, although we are nearing the end of the year, we still have 1-2M ILS available for investing in this fiscal year, and thus we invite all entrepreneurs who are active in the field or are interested in entering it to contact us. The 2023 budget will be structured according to business opportunities, as we focus on seed to A‑round stages," she said.
