"Europe is experiencing the worst drought in the past 500 years. Its climate is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world. Israel has dealt with water scarcity for more than 75 years and has developed cutting-edge technologies to save every drop and generate additional water resources. Today Israel is a semi-arid country with a water surplus," the organizers said in a statement ahead of the event, which will begin Monday and last through Thursday.
Among the speakers are Dr. Şafak Başa, the general director for Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ), who will talk about emergency preparedness for a possible Istanbul earthquake, and Steve Bieber, the Water Resources Program director for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG), who will talk about the importance of cooperation between governments and utility operators in protecting our critical water infrastructure.
