The Gibraltar-Israel Chamber of Commerce (Gibrael) held a special event, in the form of a gala, in honor of Israel's 75th year of independence.

The event was organized by KKL-JNF,  which was founded more than 120 years ago and is for developing the land of Israel and strengthening the bond between the Jewish people and its homeland.

"KKL-JNF also brought with them, in a complex operation, an olive tree from Israel which was planted in a separate ceremony... This olive tree symbolizes the special bond between the people of Gibraltar, KKL-JNF, and the people of Israel," the organization said in a statement.

Gibrael Chamber Chairwoman Ayelet Mamo Shay said the following: "We are honored to have such an important organization as KKL-JNF here on the Rock for the second year running...The work they do in Israel and in the diaspora brings together communities and promotes not only their environmental ethos but also values such as equal opportunities, assisting those in need, and fighting poverty. I'm very grateful to the companies who sponsored this event including Benefit Business Solutions, Playtech, Eshkol, Finsbury Trust, and GibraltarPass, and of course to members of the Gibraltar Jewish and Israeli community who participated in the event."

Gibrael Chamber President Eran Shay added the following statement: "Having a top caliber journalist as Sivan Rahav Meir coming to Gibraltar is a real treat, and her energy and stories from many years of reporting, inspired our audience very much, along with the Jewish high school girls she addressed in a special assembly at school."

KKL-JNF representative Moria Gilbert, who is director and liaison of the UK and Gibraltar at KKL-JNF commented on the visit and event and noted that "it is an honor to represent KKL-JNF for the second time in Gibraltar. At KKL- JNF we strive to reach all Jewish and Israel-affiliated communities in all corners of the world, strengthening our eternal bond to the land of Israel. We see the Gibraltar community as part of this bond and the KKL- JNF worldwide family. We are deeply thankful for their generous support for Israel and its residents, helping us create a homeland we can all be proud of
