In the petition, Hadassah demands that ICRC representatives visit the Israeli hostages held by the Hamas terror organization in Gaza.
National President of HWZOA Carol Ann Schwartz, immediate past National President Rhoda Smolow, and Executive Director of Hadassah Offices in Israel Suzanne Patt Benvenisti, submitted the petition signed by more than 5,000 members and supporters of HWZOA.
The petition expresses shock at the ICRC's unacceptable failure to fulfill its humanitarian role on behalf of citizens of Israel and other countries.
The petition calls on the ICRC to stop ignoring 136 hostages still being held in Gaza in inhumane conditions, while being subjected to continuous physical, psychological, and sexual abuse. HWZOA calls on ICRC to visit the hostages, ensure they are kept in tolerable conditions, put an end to the abuse, supply much-needed medication and food and put them in contact with their families.
HWZOA leadership met with the representatives and handed over the petition.
