The IDF released on Monday morning two names of IDF soldiers who fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip: Staff Sergeant Nachman Meir Haim Vaknin, 20, from Eilat and Staff Sergeant Noam Bittan , 20, from Moshav Yad Rambam.
Both were soldiers in the Givati Brigade Reconnaissance Unit. They were killed after an explosive device detonated in a shaft that they had been neutralizing.
In the incident in which they killed, a combat officer and two additional soldiers from the Givati Reconnaissance Unit were seriously injured. In addition, a reserve soldier from the 5832nd Engineering Brigade, Northern Command, was seriously injured as a result of an anti-tank missile hitting a D9 bulldozer.
