U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, faced a surprising demand at a campaign rally in Detroit. Two American Muslims, who met with her, called on her to consider imposing a weapons embargo on Israel.
The two requested a meeting with her regarding the embargo request, and she noted that she was "open to it", according to a report in The New York Times.
During the rally, pro-Palestinian demonstrators interrupted Harris's speech by chanting "Kamala, Kamala you can't hide, we won't vote for genocide." In responce, she addressed the issue directly and said: "If you want Donald Trump to win - then say that. Otherwise - I'm speaking."
After the event, Harris' campaign team clarified: "The Vice President has been clear: she will always work to ensure Israel is able to defend itself against Iran and Iran-backed terrorist groups. The Vice President is focused on securing the ceasefire and hostage deal currently on the table."
