According to an initial police assessment, the father shot his son inside the home and then took his own life. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
Magen David Adom emergency teams said they were called to the scene at around 6 a.m. local time, finding the man and the boy with no signs of life, and pronounced them dead at the scene.
An initial investigation found that the father had sent a message to his sister, who lives in the US, saying he "couldn't take it anymore." He then took a gun belonging to a relative from a safe. The relative later found the two shot dead.
"When we arrived at the scene, we were led into the apartment," MDA paramedic Shulamit Arinos said. "We saw a man and a child unconscious, with no pulse and not breathing. We carried out medical checks, and unfortunately had to pronounce them dead at the scene."
Police forces entered the home, where the father and son were found, and began collecting evidence as part of the investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
