Gaps emerged Tuesday between the US and Israel over the next stages of the campaign against Iran, as Israel's Diplomatic-Security Cabinet believes Israel should launch a supplementary military operation to complete the war's objectives and, ideally, bring the regime to the brink of collapse.
In addition, Jerusalem is unhappy with the restrictions on IDF activity against Hezbollah in Lebanon. US President Donald Trump still wants Israel to limit itself on that front in order to give diplomatic talks with Lebanon a chance, as well as to leave room for possible negotiations with Iran.

Freedom of action
Israel's political leadership, however, wants to operate freely against Hezbollah, since the Lebanese government is not doing so. Against this approach, which supports renewed fighting, the concern in Jerusalem is that Trump is fundamentally interested in ending the confrontation.
However, a source familiar with the matter said the chances of any agreement between Iran and the US were still negligible. For that reason, as Israel Hayom reported last week, the chances that Trump will order another military blow against Iran are very high, the source added.
