As part of efforts to develop and expand its response to the threat posed by Hezbollah's explosive drones, the IDF, led by the Ground Forces Technological Division, is supplying troops operating in Lebanon with dedicated wire mesh designed to protect soldiers, outposts and vehicles from drone strikes.
So far, the IDF has received some 158,000 square meters (1.7 million square feet) of netting, while an additional procurement of about 188,000 square meters is also moving forward and is expected to arrive later. The amount of netting purchased to date is equivalent to the area of about 20 soccer fields.

The move comes amid the growing threat of explosive drones on the northern front, particularly FPV drones, which Hezbollah has used extensively. Earlier, four people were injured when a drone struck the Rosh Hanikra area.
Security officials have identified a significant increase in drone use in the Lebanese frontin recent months, with some of the drones operated in ways that make them difficult to intercept using existing jamming systems.
In response to the threat, IDF troops in the field have recently begun improvising protective solutions using netting. The IDF is now working to turn that response into a more organized and broader solution for forces on the ground.
