A Lebanese political source told Ad-Diyar on Sunday that they expected developments in contacts between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Hezbollah after the signing of an agreement between the US and Iran. According to the source, such contacts will take place sooner or later, despite tensions between the two sides.

The source also claimed that Lebanon could benefit from an agreement between Tehran and Washington, even if it remains committed to the idea of separating the various negotiation tracks. He assessed that such a deal could help consolidate the ceasefire in the next round of talks between Israel and Lebanon, which is scheduled to take place in Washington on June 22.

According to the source, senior officials believe that after the agreement between Iran and the US is signed, a ceasefire in Lebanon will be within reach, regardless of Israel's attempt to evade it and refuse to accept the agreement's results.

Qatari negotiators flew to Tehran on Sunday as part of efforts to finalize an agreement to end the war between the US and Iran, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

US and Pakistani leaders had predicted the signing of a framework agreement on Sunday to end the more than three-month war, but Tehran cast doubt on the timing, as hardline protesters in Iran.
