During a Knesset House Committee discussion on the Political Parties Financing Law, July 17 was formally entered as the date on which the Knesset will dissolve. Accordingly, Israel's next Knesset election will officially be held on Oct. 27, 2026.
The coalition formally announced that the election would take place on its originally scheduled date of Oct. 27. The decision follows a prolonged dispute over setting the election date and ultimately represents a major achievement for the coalition: the 25th Knesset will complete a full term despite the national, diplomatic and political crises that accompanied its tenure.
This will be the first time the Knesset has completed a full term since 1988, when the first national unity government led by Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Shamir was in office.
Discussions currently underway in the Knesset House Committee indicate that the Knesset will dissolve this week and that the election date will remain unchanged from the date set shortly after the previous election in 2022.
