Today, the image most associated with the October 7 attack, Shiri Bibas clutching her two red-haired sons, will return to us in two small coffins, alongside a larger one. The hopes of the Bibas and Lifshitz families have been shattered. The US president threatened regional allies that failure to cooperate would give Netanyahu unrestricted military authority, as Hamas leadership signals willingness to transfer power.

500 days have passed since the war began, yet the government, led by Netanyahu, still lacks a clear direction. The Israeli leadership has failed to define its objectives for Gaza in the post-war era. The only one offering an alternative vision is Trump.
