A three-pronged crisis between Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran has erupted in recent days after a staffer working for a senior Hamas official was identified as an Iranian spy.
First reported by Channel 12, Hamas discovered that at least one person working alongside Musa Abu Marzouk – who heads the terrorist organization's foreign relations operations – is an Iranian agent, most likely recruited through Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shiite terrorist organization.

According to Channel 12, the alleged Iranian spy kept close tabs on his boss, Marzouk, reporting on his every move and conversations to an Iranian handler.
Marzouk, reportedly outraged over the espionage operation, complained directly to Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who in turn personally raised the issue with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and senior Iranian officials.

Marzouk, who has been a vocal opponent of Hamas' growing ties with Iran, resides in Qatar.
Although Iran has financially supported Hamas and its terrorist activities for years, the Gaza-based organization is hesitant to fully embrace Tehran as a benefactor, aware that its Arab allies, such as Egypt and Turkey, view Iran as a regional threat.
The spy was reportedly forced to resign from Marzouk's office and fled to Sudan after the plot was discovered.
