IDF troops on operations near the Palestinian village Kifl Haris, outside Ariel, last week thwarted an attempted Molotov cocktail attack on an IDF guard position near the village, the army reported late Sunday.
A group of soldiers who were on an operation in the area spotted two masked terrorists throwing a burning bottle at the IDF post and fired in their direction. One of the terrorists was wounded, while the second fled the scene.

However, Palestinian reports claimed that one attacker had been wounded and a second man, whom they identified as Ibrahim Abu Yakoub, was killed. The Palestinian reports also claimed that the casualty had been innocently strolling through the village of Kifl Haris and that the IDF had opened fire "for no reason."
On Friday, hundreds of mourners gathered for Abu Yakoub's funeral, which was held in the village of Salfit. They carried PLO flags and chanted "Allahu Akbar," or "God is great."
IDF forces provided first aid to the wounded man, who was shot in the leg, and transferred him to Red Crescent paramedics for further treatment.
The IDF is investigating the incident.
