Vice Chairman of the World Zionist Congress Yaakov Hagoel condemned an anti-Semitic incident involving the Israeli national soccer team in Glasgow, Scotland, this week ahead of a UEFA qualifier match.
"It is inconceivable that in 2020 our team suffers from bigoted, anti-Semitic incidents. Sporting events have always been a symbol of the bridge between different nationalities and cultures. Sports can teach tolerance and understanding between ethnicities," he said. "If vandalism and hate speech is not immediately dealt with, it can lead to murder as we have seen in the past.
