Iran's parliament is developing legislation aimed at withdrawing the Islamic Republic from the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, the country's foreign ministry confirmed Monday, as reported by Reuters.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei says that despite the proposed legislative action, Tehran maintains its position opposing the development of weapons of mass destruction.
The move comes amid heightened tensions following an Israeli campaign that targeted Iran's nuclear facilities and top leadership, followed by Iranian retaliatory attacks on Israeli civilian areas.
