Iran's state-run Tasnim news agency confirmed the appointment of a new commander for the Iranian general staff's Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters following the elimination of the previous commander, Gholamali Rashid, during Operation Rising Lion. His immediate successor survived only four days before also being killed.
The Iranian regime revealed that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei personally selected the new commander while withholding his identity to shield him from potential assassination attempts.
The X account "Mossad in Persian" prompted followers to identify the mysterious new commander. Iranian users quickly revealed him to be Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi, a high-ranking Revolutionary Guards officer whom military analysts consider the likely choice to head the supreme military command.
Aliabadi has previously issued threats declaring that any Israeli strike on Iran would result in Tehran "destroying Israel within a mere 8 minutes." The military official has also characterized Israel as "a malignant cancer without remedy."
