US officials have officially confirmed that an American Apache attack helicopter crashed Monday in the area of the Strait of Hormuz. The two crew members were rescued safely.
The New York Times reported, citing two officials familiar with the details of the incident, that it was not yet clear whether the Apache had been brought down by Iranian fire, or whether it had suffered a technical malfunction or encountered another problem.

US President Donald Trump addressed and officially confirmed the incident. He said the two pilots who landed in the Strait of Hormuz were in good condition, and that a report detailing the incident would be released later in the day.
In early April, during the intense fighting in Operations Roaring Lion and Epic Fury, a US fighter jet crashed in the Persian Gulf area about an hour after an F-15 was shot down over Iran. The aircraft was an A-10 attack plane that crashed near the Strait of Hormuz. According to the report, the pilot was rescued safely. At the same time, according to an NBC report, two Black Hawk helicopters were damaged during the rescue mission for the F-15 crew, and one of them was forced to cross the border into Iraq.
