Israeli officials say Washington is weighing an expanded campaign to resolve the Hormuz crisis, with a senior diplomatic source saying that “even if the war ended now, Iran will not return to what it was.”

During an Israeli Air Force operational mission over Iran, a surface-to-air missile was launched at an Israeli fighter jet, which successfully evaded it. The crew acted in accordance with protocol, no damage was caused to the aircraft, and the mission was completed as planned.

The timing of the operation, if Trump orders one, remains unclear. Sources familiar with the matter told CBS that the planning is focused on a possible deployment of Joint Special Operations Command forces.

Two ballistic missiles were launched at the US base on Diego Garcia but did not hit it. One failed during flight and the other was intercepted in an attempt to hit the key base used for military activity in the region. US officials say the long distance points to an Iranian ability to fire at a greater range than previously known.

At the height of Operation Roaring Lion, a special flight from France and Britain landed at Ben Gurion Airport carrying more than 20 young families. Meanwhile, pressure from Gulf states is intensifying. Qatar has lost tens of billions of dollars and has chosen to blame Israel in the hope Iran will stop its attacks.
