The European Research Council and the Israel Antiquities Authority are launching a special initiative. As part of the project, and in cooperation with the Israel Antiquities Authority, some 250 parchment and papyrus samples from the Dead Sea Scrolls collection will be examined.

France and Italy are trying to advance their involvement in implementing the memorandum of understanding between Israel and Lebanon, while the UN is trying to renew the activity of UNIFIL, which was supposed to be dismantled soon. Israel is strongly opposed to bringing the organization back, as well as to France's involvement, against the backdrop of strained relations in recent years. 

The Israeli economy is crying out for working hands, and the Population and Immigration Authority’s goal of 330,000 workers is a step in the right direction. However, for this plan to truly succeed, Israel must formulate a comprehensive policy and take decisive measures to prevent workers from abandoning their designated sectors.

Sagiv Mansour, whose grandfather, Shlomo Mansour, was murdered in captivity, said: “It makes me feel part of something.”
