A sorry summit
Meeting with African leaders, Biden avoids the pivotal issues
There was no shortage of historic events in 2022: the death of a beloved monarch; the overturning of Roe v. Wade; and the first World Cup held in the Middle East, just to name a few. Yet, they all pale in comparison to what unfolded in eastern Europe.
Nowhere is American resolve being tested greater than in Iran, where thousands of courageous dissidents have risked everything, including their very lives to overthrow their tyrannical regime.
While Lapid’s mantra is the inevitable death of Israel’s democracy at the hands of “fanatics,” now-former Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman – replaced in the role by (gasp!) Religious Zionism Party chairman Bezalel Smotrich – envisions their bringing about the demise of its raison d’être.
I was disheartened when I encountered a sharp op-ed on Israel Hayom entitled, “When political spouses are unclear about their roles."
The first issue of Israel Hayom appeared on July 30, 2007. Israel Hayom was founded on the belief that the Israeli public deserves better, more balanced and more accurate journalism. Journalism that speaks, not shouts. Journalism of a different kind. And free of charge.
