In Italy, Palestinian terrorism remains taboo, an uncomfortable topic that few address clearly. Yet distinguishing between the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people for a state and the terrorist actions of those who target civilians should be a necessary step for anyone who wants to seriously address the Middle East issue.

The directive, issued August 18 and signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, instructed all US embassies and consulates to deny nonimmigrant visas to "all otherwise eligible Palestinian Authority passport holders" using those documents for visa applications, CNN reported.
