The Advisory Committee for the Appointment of Senior Officials approved Gofman’s candidacy, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed the appointment letter. Gofman is set to take office in June for a five-year term. Despite the approval, committee chairman former Supreme Court President Asher Grunis remained in the minority and issued a sharply critical opinion, writing: “It is not appropriate to appoint him.”
